Five Reasons to Read FURIOUS!

Five Reasons to Read FURIOUS!

When this book came around for tour, I literally screeched. I am a CAR GIRL ™ through and through. I grew up on the dirt tracks of Texas Thunder Speedway and graduated to IMCA as my family grew in race experience. My grandmother was 78 and still driving dirt track race cars – she even FLIPPED her car and crushed it when she was 80, but still crawled out and got back out there! This book brought up so many memories that I just couldn’t help but enjoy it.

Let’s take a look at five reasons I loved it!

First, check out how awesome the book is!

Author: Jamie Pacton and Becca Podos

Format/Source: earc

From Goodreads: After years racing go-karts and looking up to her mother, a celebrity Formula 1 racer, Jojo Emerson-Boyd should be starting her own racing career. But when she loses her mom in a tragic crash, Jojo’s future comes to a screeching halt. Now her dad won’t let her get a license, much less race. Instead, she’s stuck working at her grandmother’s mechanic shop in the sleepy small town of Dell’s Hollow. But Jojo’s heart quickens when Motorcyle Girl Eliana “El” Blum shows up at the shop. El grew up on the motocross circuit sidelines, watching her sister and idol Maxine compete. When El mysteriously loses all contact with Max, she’s determined to find her, with her first clue leading straight to the mechanic shop, and to Jojo. United by fate, the two quickly bond over Mario Kart showdowns and the Fast & Furious films. As their friendship shifts into something more, they’ll have to confront both their growing romance and the grief woven into their complicated families if they hope to chase down their dreams and make it across the finish line.

….Meet Cute…

Who doesn’t love an unsuspecting adorable meeting in a car garage? This book incorporates all the typical meet cute tropes but twists it into a mechanic’s dream!

….Car Girls ™…

Or Bike girls – whichever you swoon over! The combination of both of them in a slow burning romance is utterly delicious and definitely got my engines revving! 😉

….Sass by the liter…

When you throw two very quick witted authors together, you get characters that have so much sass is can barely be contained on the page! El’s witty remarks and Grandma Jolene’s hot rod attitude had me on the floor, several times!

….Grandma Jolene…

Speaking of Grandma Jolene – This woman was a firecracker. She deserved so much more page time and I would definitely read a book about her! Her heels, her hair, her smirk. I could see the perfect pin up mechanic grandma and I was HERE for it! My own grandma was not pin up chic – but I really loved how I could relate to the quick wit and clever smiles.

….Mystery…

Underneath the sapphic glory that is this book, there is a mystery surrounding El’s sister and the loss of contact that happens. While I whole-y picked up this book for the sapphic car girls, the mystery and relatablity in losing a sibling, even when they are still here, really made this book stick out. If you love a good puzzler, this one is for you!

This book does not disappoint and if you have any love for the racing world, I recommend you grab it NOW!
